Anna Cardwell

Thu, 02 Jul 2026

On the morning of February 15, 2012, Anna Cardwell's mother left home briefly to run errands while Anna slept in. When she returned about an hour later, she found blood throughout the home and discovered her daughter dead in the kitchen. Anna had been shot four times with a 9mm handgun after desperately trying to escape her attacker. There were no signs of forced entry, leading investigators to believe she had willingly opened the door for someone she knew.

Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss the murder of Anna Cardwell. Anna Catherine Cardwell was a vibrant, outgoing college student who dreamed of becoming a teacher. Living in the close-knit community of Slapout, Alabama, she was well-liked and known for her kindness and confidence. After recently ending a long-term relationship, she had begun dating someone new and appeared to be enjoying life. Investigators had to work through a number of suspects to find Anna's killer.
